Be still our hearts.

Luxury ready-to-wear brand Céline has unveiled writer Joan Didion as the face for a new set of Spring 2015 campaign ads—and we couldn't be more excited about the unique, understated choice. Didion is a legendary writer known for both her fiction and nonfiction work, so it makes sense: Why wouldn't a leader in the style realm tap a woman with one of the most lauded literary styles in the last century to front a campaign for their latest collection?

Didion poses for the photo in all-black, wearing a pair of her signature oversized sunglasses and a necklace with a large gold pendant.

The writer's hair, of course, is styled in a perfectly sleek gray lob (Didion: Pioneer for female writers and wearers of the long bob in one).

Céline designer Phoebe Philo's choice to have Didion in the brand's latest ads may speak to her love of the '70s (a Didion-owned decade if there ever was one) and reverence for the writer in general. Ads from a recent Céline campaign featuring model Daria Werbowy also harked to a famous image of the writer sitting in her Corvette Stingray, as Vogue was first to note.

Whatever the reason, we can't wait to see more of what Joan Didion for Céline has to offer.
