Just because The Interview's release date has been canceled doesn't mean you'll never be able to see James Franco on the big screen again. (As if you were concerned about that.)

Just a few days after Sony pulled the release of the actor's latest flick, fans are being treated to the very first trailer for Franco's upcoming project True Story.

The mystery thriller examines the relationship between disgraced journalist Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill) and Christian Longo (Franco), who just so happens to be a murderous member of the FBI Most Wanted list.

In an extra plot twist, Longo apparently lived outside the United States under Finkel's name. The reason is enough to give any moviegoer the creeps.

"I followed your whole career," Longo admits from his jail cell. "It felt like I knew you."

After Finkel is fired from the New York Times after allegedly "making up" a story, he makes it his mission to find the truth and nothing but the truth about Longo. In fact, he takes on the brave task of writing Finkel's life story.

"He was just a regular guy—intelligent, sane man," a former acquaintance tells Finkel. "He came home one night and killed his wife and it makes no sense."

And just when you heard it all, another crazy kicker is introduced.

The movie is actually based on true events. Yes, we're more than a little intrigued.

True Story has a tentative release date of April 10, 2015. It premieres at the Sundance Film Festival next month.
