Now that awards season is upon us, many people are weighing in on what their favorite movies of the year were! Despite being a very busy man, Barack Obama was able to take in a movie or two and weighed in on the tough competition during an interview with People (with a preview provided by Politico's Playbook).

Drumroll please...

The president's pick? Boyhood!

"Boyhood was a great movie," he tells the magazine. "That, I think, was my favorite movie this year."

But his wife, Michelle Obama, didn't agree with his pick. The first lady wasn't as excited about this year's film options, but was able to come up with one. But she added an asterisk to her selection.

"I've read others [since, but] I read Gone Girl a couple summers ago, which is one of my favorites. The book is much better than the movie."

We're sure there are a ton of Gillian Flynn readers who would agree, but there was a special surprise in the movie that you couldn't see in the book that we enjoyed! We're looking at you, Ben Affleck.

Boyhood has been a popular choice for many people, including those who nominate films for awards! So far, the Richard Linklater-directed film has been seemingly dominating the competition, although Birdman is definitely giving it a run for its money. Boyhood has pulled in nominations from the Critics' Choice Movie Awards for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Ensemble, Director and a whole bunch of other categories.

The New York Film Critics Circle also named the film, which took more than a decade to make, Best Picture. Last, but certainly not least, Boyhood also garnered several nominations for the upcoming 2015 Golden Globes! It certainly looks like it will be a strong contender for the Academy Awards!

Now that the president of the United States has weighed in, we have to wonder if this will have an affect on the Hollywood Foreign Press Assocation and The Academy...
