Scarlett Johansson opens up about motherhood in a heartwarming new interview, posted about three months after she gave birth to her first child, daughter Rose Dorothy.

The 30-year-old Avengers actress describes being a mom as "exhausting" but in "a wonderful way," in comments translated into German and published by the German magazine Gala earlier this week. The outlet quotes Johansson as joking that she did not realize how much she liked sleeping through the night until she had her child.

Late-night and early morning feedings provide for unique bonding experiences for new parents. And then, there is that new baby smell. Gala quoted Johansson as saying that her daughter's scent makes her feel "euphoric."

Johansson and then-fiancé Romain Dauriac welcomed Rose in September. It was revealed this week that the couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in Montana on Oct. 1. The couple has been together since 2012.

Earlier this year, Johansson talked about balancing work and family life, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

"There must exist a world in which I can balance those things, be able to raise a family and still make a film a year, or work on my own, develop things, do theater. I want to be able to have it all," she said. "I know that with that there will be some sacrifices."

Johansson will continue to balance motherhood with acting. She has several films in the works. She reprises her role of Natasha Romanoff/The Black Widow in the Avengers sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and is currently doing voice-over work for a 2015 new half-animated remake of The Jungle Book, in which she portrays the snake Kaa.

The actress is also working on Ethan Coen and Joel Coen's new '50s Hollywood-themed film, Hail, Caesar!, which is due in 2016 and also stars Channing TatumGeorge Clooney and Josh Brolin. Johansson had starred in the Coen brothers' 2001 movie The Man Who Wasn't There.

Johansson is also set to film an eight-episode period TV series based on Edith Wharton's 1913 novel The Custom of the Country.
