If Renee Zellweger is up for doing another Bridget Jones's Diary movie, what's the hold up?

"It would be fun," Zellweger says.

Sadly, the Chicago star insists she isn't in the loop on the third film's progress. "I have no idea," she told me at yesterday's ALS Walk, where she was participating in honor of her longtime publicist Nanci Ryder. "I'm not being cagey. I just don't know."

Hugh Grant recently revealed that he has pulled out of the project.

"The book's excellent, by the way, but the script is completely different—or the script as I last saw it a few years ago," Grant said in a recent Free Radio interview. "And in the end I decided not to do it. But I think they are going to go ahead and do it without Daniel."

When rumors swirled two years ago that Grant was leaving the movie, his rep said that he and Zellweger as well as their co-star Colin Firth had "some issues with the present script."

Zellweger famously put on 20 pounds for the 2001 adaptation of the bestselling Helen Fielding novel. She picked up her first Academy Award nomination for her work.

Its sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, was released in 2004.

The original third installment was titled Bridget Jones's Baby and was reportedly going to focus on Bridget in her 40s, desperate for a baby and torn between two men: Grant's Daniel and Firth's Mark Darcy.

Firth reportedly told The Telegraph, "The way it's going, you might be seeing Bridget Jones's granddaughter's story being told by the time we get there."

Fielding told me three years ago, "I think all the actors playing the parts in the movies were fantastic and it would be wonderful if they would again. But they've all done very well and they don't need to do another film, so it would have to be a really good script for them to want to do it."
