Katie Holmes is stepping behind the cameras for her next film!

The actress is slated to make her directorial debut with the mother-daughter film, All We Had, which is based on the Annie Weatherwax novel. She's also going to be starring and producing the future flick.

The Fault in Our Stars' Josh Boone is coming on board to write the script, while Jane Rosenthal has been announced as the producer.

"I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and so look forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to screen," Holmes said in a statement.

Rosenthal echoed her excitement, saying, "Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship. Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life."

Weatherwax's debut book follows a mother and her 13-year-old daughter as they handle several hardships, including poverty.

The duo seeks to live in several strangers' homes in small town America, and meets plenty of quirky people throughout their gritty journey.

Weatherwax's tale depicts how strong a mother-daughter bond is, even when faced with terrifying situations like homelessness and hunger.
