Mariah Carey is taking matters into her own hands.

A source tells E! News that the Grammy-winning songstress is "done taking a passive role" in all of the increasing drama surrounding her marriage to Nick Cannon.

"She asked Nick to come over to the apartment yesterday to talk—that's why he was there," the insider continued.

"She told him she needed to get out of town and she was taking the kids with her. Nick was fine with it. The reports about him being concerned about the welfare of the kids aren't true. If he was worried, the kids wouldn't be with her, period. He thinks she's a good mom."

Our insider also explained what really went down between the two stars during their most recent convo, saying. "She told him there would be one announcement about the divorce and it was going to come from her team.

"Nick said he was fine with this too. He knows he really upset her by speaking out of turn last week and has apologized for it."

E! News previously reported that the legendary crooner was "devastated about the comments Nick made to The Insider" because "they had agreed to work on a statement together."

Just last week, Cannon confessed to a pal on the program that there was "trouble in paradise" and that the two had been living separately for months.

At the time, we were told that Carey was none too pleased, adding that his comments were "not what they had agreed on and not classy. He was not supposed to say a word."

The source went on to say that she thought it "was extremely childish, impulsive and opportunistic. For her, it was the last straw. She's done with him now."
