It looks like Miley Cyrus has a bone to pick with Ed Sheeran.

The 21-year-old singer was caught on camera mouthing the word "a--hole," according to viewers, when Sheeran walked by her on the way to accept Best Male Video for "Sing" at the MTV Video Music Awards. It's unclear if Cyrus' flippancy was intended as a joke or if she deliberately dissed the singer-songwriter.

It wouldn't be surprising if Cyrus lashed out, however.

Last year, the British musician was asked to weigh in on Cyrus' "We Can't Stop/Blurred Lines" medley from the 2013 MTV VMAs. "I think she's got an amazing voice," Sheeran, 23, told The Daily Mirror. "I just think she's packaged the wrong way." Regarding Cyrus' overtly sexual stage persona, he said, "When I first heard 'Wrecking Ball,' I thought it was a brilliant song, but the video distracts too much from it."

"I think encouraging young people to twerk might be a bad thing," he added. "It's a stripper's move. If I had a daughter of 9, I wouldn't want her twerking."

Four months later, he clarified his comments on Twitter. "Something said in jest when i was drunk is being misquoted now, just wanna make it clear i genuinely like mileys music a lot," Sheeran promised.

Tune in Tuesday at 8 p.m. for a special VMA and Emmys edition of Fashion Police!
