It's that time of the night, y'all. Time to size up the fashion we saw on the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet.

The stars came in droves for the annual event, but while some totally nailed it, others, um…well, others missed the mark.

So let's start with the good stuff, shall we? The best dressed. First up, one word: Beyoncé. The woman of the night arrived looking fantastic in a black lace gown by designer Nicolas Jebran. We'd say it was a perfect ten.

Next, onto the looks that weren't our favorites. But we'll say up front we give all these celebs props for keeping things interesting.

Let's discuss Katy Perry. Now, we get that she was riffing on Britney Spears' infamous 2001 VMAs outfit and it was meant in good fun, but all we see is denim. And more denim. And studs. And a choker.

We also were a little underwhelmed by Taylor Swift. She opted for a long-sleeved bodysuit with a bunch of letters all over it. Sure it was different, but we're longing for those shimmering and feminine dresses she typically goes for.

Other misses? Charli XCX, who we applaud for trying something out-of-the-box, but her one-sleeved getup was a little too Tony the Tiger-esque. And we actually think Chloë Grace Moretz looked really lovely, but her Louis Vuitton blouse and pantsuit combo just didn't fit the vibe of the VMAs.

We loved Victoria Justice's hashtag clutch, but we weren't huge fans of her mullet-hemline skirt. We could have sworn that trend was dead and buried...

And we can't wrap things up without touching on Amber Roses' nearly-naked getup. She definitely wins the award for dropping most jaws, but we didn't group her with the worst dresses because this is in an outrageous league of its own. Plus, there's not even enough fabric to call it a "dress."

So, who were your best and worst dressed of the night?
