A spoonful of vinegar helps the medicine go down

You know what they say: A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. Or is it a spoonful of vinegar helps celebrities stay fit?

Stars like Miranda Kerr and Megan Fox have been vocal about their love of apple cider vinegar for years now, and this trend isn't going away. Back in 2010 Megan Fox said, "It just cleanses out your system entirely."

And then there's Miranda, who likes to drizzle it on her salad. She told Vogue Australia this month that she always makes "a big salad with finely chopped fennel, cucumber, feta cheese, baby spinach, avocado…and a dressing of macadamia oil, apple cider vinegar and Bragg's amino acids."

That actually sounds delicious, except for the amino acids part. Miranda also told Into the Gloss that she uses the potent stuff for shiny hair. "You put on a little bit on in the shower as a rinse, and then wash it out. It stinks a little bit, but then you use conditioner and the smell goes away," she said.

Why is it that celebrity-adored diet tricks and tips always sound so unpleasant? Gwyneth Paltrow told E! back in March that she swears by "oil pulling." We were confused, so she explained the process for us: "Oil pulling is when you swish coconut oil around [in your mouth] for 20 minutes, and it's supposed to be great for oral health and making your teeth white. It's supposed to clear up your skin, as well," she said.

If all this talk of oil and vinegar makes you cringe, here's another diet trick that isn't quite as intense that Miranda Kerr also swears by.

She recently wrote on her Kora Organics blog that she starts every day with a glass of warm water with the juice of half an organic lemon. "Warm lemon water in the morning helps kick start the digestion process for the rest of the day," said Miranda.

As for our morning routine? No vinegar or lemon juice for us; we swear by a cup of coffee—it jump stars our day and doesn't make our lips pucker.
