Geena Davis is going to be scrubbing in at Grey-Sloan Memorial!

The Oscar winner has booked a major guest arc on the upcoming 11th season of Grey's Anatomy, the actress' rep and ABC confirmed Friday to E! News.

While she starred in the 2012 A&E miniseries Coma, a remake of the chilling 1978 movie of the same name, this marks Davis' return to a network series since she starred on the well-received yet short-lived Commander in Chief.

We knew that Shonda Rhimes would know how to shake things up now that Sandra Oh has left the building!

Davis will play—surprise, surprise—a surgeon on the still-chugging medical drama, but no other details were forthcoming.

The 58-year-old actress, who received an Emmy nomination for playing U.S. President Mackenzie Allen on Commander in Chief, was most recently in Lake Bell's feature directorial debut, In a World..., and has the indie comedy Me Him Her in the works.

Also quite notably, Davis and her partner in Oscar-nominated crime, Susan Sarandon, channeled Thelma & Louise this year when the stunning redheads posed for another epic selfie, 23 years after their characters' impromptu Polaroid left a lasting impression.

Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC in September, and presumably Ellen Pompeo's Meredith will be dealing with both McDreamy's D.C. job offer and a half-sister she'll be meeting any day now.

Geena Davis had better buckle her seatbelt—plot bumps ahead.
