Music saves lives.
Or at least that's what the Global Citizen Festival will attempt to do when it brings together Jay Z, No Doubt, Tiësto, Carrie Underwood, The Roots, and fun. in an effort to end extreme poverty by 2030.
Slated for Sep. 27, the philanthropic concert will take place at the Great Lawn in Central Park and will coincide with the United Nations General Assembly meeting, as it has in the past two years.
This cohesion is in hopes of engaging world leaders through music using the jam session's high profile while also encouraging concertgoers to become activists.
Much of the entry into the concert is earned through do-gooder deeds.
The Global Poverty Project is giving out 45,000 free tickets of the 60,000 person venue to those who take charitable actions or participate in community service, although VIP tickets can be purchased.
In addition, the Days of Action initiative was added to the humanitarian music fest this year and will appoint specific dates volunteers can lend their support.
Jay Z is headlining the annual charity event and said in a statement, "Change only takes place when and where there is action. I'm joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved, or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible."
The gig-that-gives-back will air live on MSNBC and MSNBC.com. NBC News will also broadcast a one-hour prime-time special from the event.
