Gavin Rossdale Rescues His Dog From Drowning During Fourth of July Beach Party

Singer was enjoying some quality family time in Malibu

Gavin Rossdale, to the rescue!

The musician found himself in the middle of a dangerous riptide over the Fourth of July holiday weekend when he was surrounded by family and friends.

Rossdale was playing in the sand in Malibu with his sons Kingston and Zuma, the family pooch Chewy, and Rachel Zoe's hubby, Rodger Berman, and their son Skyler when a wave came and pulled the little Pomeranian further into the ocean.

Berman immediately grabbed a hold of the kids, who appeared to be completely unfazed by the wave, when the Bush frontman noticed that his four-legged friend was struggling to make it to shore.

His paternal instincts kicked right in and he swept Chewy up and held him close until they reached safe sand. Aw, poor little guy!

Gwen Stefani watched the scary ordeal from the balcony alongside the famous fashion stylist, but both seemed confident that their husbands could handle the minor hiccup.

And considering that everyone involved went back to blissfully playing in the sand and ocean, not even a small bump in the road could put an end to the holiday spirit.

Phew! So glad everyone is safe and sound and enjoyed a wonderful weekend—even little Chewy!
