Selena Gomez is getting back in touch with her spiritual side following her recent trip to Nepal on behalf of UNICEF.

"It was beautiful. It was spiritual," the 21-year-old pop star told ABC News of her journey, which took place last month. "I never showered, ever, because I was in the field every day and it just felt like I was removed, completely, from my bubble that I live in," she said. "And it was incredible."

Asked whether it puts some of the struggles she deals with in perspective, Gomez responded without hesitation.

"Absolutely. I'm living in a bubble," she admitted. "I think essentially most people are when they're constantly on their phones or when they're constantly thinking of their every day. You tend to easily forget how incredibly it is that we have a roof over our heads right now. I mean, I was visiting with children who were trying to beg their parents for a toilet. And we're complaining we've got to do stuff every day."

Justin Bieber's on-again girlfriend also hopes to empower and inspire her fans through her travels, admitting she strives to put positive energy back into the world.

"I consume all of this energy from the world essentially that it's like a pressure and it's a sense of focusing on certain things that are totally not what this world is about. And it was good for me and it's healthy and I love being able to do that for my fans because then they can see what is going on in the world," she explained. "They're now knowing. They now know where Nepal is. Maybe before they didn't. I didn't. It's learning with them, it growing, it's channeling all of the right energy into something that actually matters in the world."

The Spring Breakers beauty, who said she hopes to expand her film career, also opened up about her hectic schedule and confessed that she is often urged by others to take a chill pill.

"I love structure, I love being able to work, but you have to understand what it means to, like, take a break and that's what my problem is," the starlet, who has been working since she was 7 years old, admitted.

"I have people saying ‘Have fun!' You know, like be able to just enjoy where I am. But I want to do a lot, though. I love what I do. I'm obsessed with what I do."

As for whether she's ever felt robbed of her childhood?

"No, because at the end of the day I chose my lifestyle," she insisted. "It's easy to be pressured into this line of work, because you're in front of the cameras and it's all kind of depending on you so there is this sense of pressure that you get to feel, but at the end of the day, I don't have to do anything that I don't want to do…I've always loved my life. I think there are certain parts of my life I wish I could have to myself and things I could do and grow and experience. But it would almost be just hypocritical of me if I complained about it. I think it's silly sometimes what happens, but I love what I do and I guess I gotta deal with it."
