Piers Morgan does not take kindly to criticism—just ask Larry King!

The 80-year-old journalist, who retired from Larry King Live in 2010 and now hosts Larry King Now on Hulu, told Howard Stern on Wednesday he felt CNN made a "mistake" picking Morgan to replace him.

"I thought it was a mistake, one, to hire a Britisher [sic] in prime time," he said, "and, two, I thought that he made himself too much part of the show." In other words? There was "too much 'I'" on the now-canceled show, King said.

"It wasn't my kind of show," he clarified. "He was nice to me. I went on his show two or three times...He wasn't unfriendly to me. It just wasn't my type of show."

On Thursday, Morgan, 49, took to Twitter (where else?!) to fire back. "Hey Larry @kingsthings - you don't need to KEEP bitching about me. It's over. Relax," he wrote. "And FYI @kingsthings - there is no such word as "Britisher'. But then research & facts were never your strong point were they, Brooklyner?"

"As for our respective egos, one of us changed his name legally to 'King' and it wasn't me. So get over yourself," he continued. "Always tried to be respectful to @kingsthings - but he's been a constant poisonous twerp towards me for 3 years and I'm bored with it."

Then Morgan gave his final musing (for now) on the matter, tweeting, "Why should I show any respect to @kingsthings any more when he has shown zero to me? Game on, Brooklyner."
