Considering Selena Gomez ended up in treatment in part to help her get over the lingering trauma caused by her breakup with Justin Bieber, the fact that her family still isn't a big fan of her ex doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Bieber was one of the reasons her family encouraged her to seek help in January and insiders have told E! News in the past that Gomez's family thought that Bieber was a "punk" and "the worst thing to ever happen to Selena."

So what's the word now that Gomez, a month removed from rehab, is spending time with—not to mention kissing—her ex again?

"There's no talking to her," a source tells us. "She's just going to do what she wants."

Gomez and Bieber, who first broke up in November 2012 after about a year and a half of dating, before reuniting, splitting up again and then launching into a pattern of staying away for long periods of time and then suddenly reuniting for an outing, such as when they were spotted riding Segways right after New Year's near Bieber's then-home in Calabasas, Calif.

Gomez entered treatment days later.

This time around, Bieber joined Gomez in Texas (where she had performances lined up over the weekend) on Friday and the duo were spotted kissing over breakfast in McAllen before browsing around a couple of stores and prompting a crush of fans to show up for a peek.

Bieber then gave a surprise performance at the 2014 SXSW Festival in Austin on Sunday, during which he dedicated "As Long as You Love Me" to his "baby girl" while Gomez reportedly watched from backstage.

"This goes out to my baby girl," the 20-year-old singer told the audience of about 100 people at Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden.

And while Gomez's family may harbor some misgivings about their daughter's latest move, it's highly possible that Bieber's family is jumping for joy, especially in light of his current streak of legal issues.

"She's good for him and they're great together," Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, told Ellen DeGeneres back in September 2012, saying, "Seriously, how could you not like her?...She's so sweet."
