Shakira is putting babies on the backburner—not literally, of course.

The "Can't Remember to Forget You" covers the April 2014 issue of Latina, where she admits that her busy work schedule has put plans for a second baby on hold for now. "If it weren't because of my music projects, I would be pregnant already," says Shakira, whose tenth studio album drops March 25.

In fact, she hopes to have many more children with soccer player Gerard Piqué. "I would love to have eight or nine kids with Gerard—my own fútbol team," says Shakira, mom to 13-month-old Milan.

While she's focused on her new music, Shakira, 37, tells the magazine her firstborn son is still her top priority. "I used to go in circles around an idea, but since he arrived I don't have much time—I have to rush back home—so he has helped me learn how to focus," she says of becoming a working mom.

"When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world. You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel," she says. "I have so many people out there that celebrate with me when they know that I'm happy. And they hate it when they know that I'm suffering because someone has hurt me. In a way I feel supported and, in a very strange way, accompanied through life. They express so much love for Milan, so much affection. I can only hope that as he grows up he learns how to give that love back to all of those people that give him so much every day."

Shakira's self-titled CD features reggae, rock, folk and dance influences: "I will always be a little bit of everything. There was a lot of fighting with myself about what direction I wanted to go. Throughout the process there were songs that I used to love at that moment and then hated a few minutes later."

The new album features two Spanish-language songs, and Shakira hopes to record another full-length album in her native tongue. "The relationship I have with my Hispanic fans is very deep and intricate," says the Grammy winner and Voice mentor, who released Sale el Sol in October 2010. "It's like a 20-year marriage, but with a lot of passion, with a lot of sex. There's mutual understanding and trust."

Shakira also gives the magazine an update on her romance with Piqué, a center-back for FC Barcelona.

"He's with me because he wants to be with Shakira the person, not the celebrity," the global superstar says of her four-year romance with the athlete, 27. "There's real love. There's no ulterior motives. And I'm with him because he's the most amazing man I've ever met. We want the same things, we like the same things, we hate the same things. I have never been with someone so passionate in my life."
