Oh. Dang. While Monday's Teen Wolf was batsh*t crazy in multiple ways, perhaps one of the most baffling moments was when Peter Hale (Ian Bohen) discovered—through our favorite banshee's expert ghost-whisper-hearing skills—that he's a dad! While there's no shortage of beautiful genes in that family, there's also no shortage of evil, so we're a little bit worried about that little wolf and what it might be capable of. Although, if Lydia (Holland Roden) and Allison (Crystal Reed) have got it right, that little wolf is neither little nor a wolf—it's a teenage coyote, and we've already met her: Malia (Shelley Hennig)!
We got to talk to Ian Bohen all about Peter's big discovery and found that he himself was pretty shocked by the left-field plot development. "It came completely out of nowhere," he told E! News, but it made a little more sense when he explained why Peter had no idea. "Talia took that memory from him because she didn't want him to corrupt the child." Good call, Talia.
So will Peter's new papa wolf status fill him with love and change his outlook on life? We're thinking no. "He's going to use the revelation to ultimately get what he wants. It's going to be a tool for him," said Bohen.
So just how evil is Peter this season?
"I think Peter's kind of plateauing right now. He's biding his time, he's earning trust, he's not doing anything too bad, and he's getting to the point where everybody forgets how awful he was. They always wanted to kill him, but now he's sort of trustworthy, and they're like, ‘OK, you're fine, you can join us.' It's just a build up for what he wants."
If Bohen had his way, Peter wouldn't be quite so evil, but as the Teen Wolf writers keep reminding him, that's just not how it is. "They're like, ‘He's just bad. Accept it.' Thank God he's funny," Bohen joked. "I don't think he's a horrible person. He just wants what he wants really badly, and he doesn't care who he hurts to get it. He always wants [to be the alpha], even though he's just lost sight of it."
It certainly sounds like we can expect Peter's reunion with the long-lost Hale to be fairly intense, as most things on Teen Wolf are these days. "It's going to be a big deal when he finally gets together with the child," he said, and teased that this revelation is "setting things up for season four," which begins production today.
With this new fatherly relationship in the mix, it sounds like it's safe to say that we're going to be seeing a lot more of Peter in season four. "I expect he's going to be in the world more. He's not going to be just in the loft, pontificating and walking down the stairs. He's going to be doing stuff, I hope."
We hope so, too.
