The Newsroom is coming to an end. HBO announced the Aaron Sorkin drama will return for a third and final season.

"The Newsroom is classic Aaron Sorkin—smart, riveting and thought-provoking," Michael Lombardo, president of programming at HBO, said in a statement. "I'm sure this farewell season will be one to remember."

Production on the final season of The Newsroom is set to begin spring 2014 with a fall 2014 premiere date being eyed.

Sorkin, Scott Rudin and Alan Poul will return as executive producers alongside new addition Paul Lieberstein of The Office fame.

Jeff Daniels, who took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series last September, will return for the final season. Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterson, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski and Olivia Munn will also return for the last season.

In September, Daniels tweeted The Newsroom would return for a third season. However, HBO said discussions were still ongoing. "We're going to come back, we just don't know when yet," Daniels told reporters backstage at the Emmys after his win. "They're trying to work it out with Aaron and HBO and is deciding when they want to air it."

The Newsroom isn't the only HBO show coming to an end. At TCA, HBO announced Boardwalk Empire would return for a fifth and final season.
