Bachelorette fans (and people with eyes!) everywhere rejoiced when it was revealed that Juan Pablo Galavis, a 32-year-old Venezuelan hunk from Desiree Hartsock's season, would be the next Bachelor star. Galavis, who is a former professional soccer player, is the ABC hit franchise's 18th Bachelor, but just the second dad (Jason Mesick was the first) as he's a single parent to 4-year-old daughter Camila.
Former Bachelorette, single mom and jewelry designer Emily Maynard sat down for Thursday's E! News to sound off on Juan Pablo as the new Bachelor and reveals what one thing he'll need to make it through his season! And while Emily tells us there's really nothing anyone can say to truly help prepare a person to be the next Bachelor, which will change their life forever, she was able to offer up some words of advice for Juan Pablo, including how to handle being on the show as a single parent...
"If I could give Juan Pablo any advice it would be to drink lots of coffee, because you're not going to get much sleep, and ask lots of questions," Emily tells E! News. "Based on their answers, follow your gut."
Emily also advises Juan Pablo to follow his daughter Camila's gut, just like she did with daughter Ricki when she was on the show!
"It's a really hard situation to be in anyway, being the Bachelor or Bachelorette, but adding being a single parent into the mix makes it that much harder," Emily explains. "But it's also a blessing because children are brutally honest and keep you very grounded. I just say keep talking to her every day and keep her to the forefront of your mind in all your choices, and I'm sure he will!"
Meanwhile, Emily is already adding to the jewelry line she recently launched in collaboration with Towne & Reese: She's working on a new collection that will be out in time for the holidays!
