Most notably, her trusted hair stylist Kim Kimble, who has worked her magic on the singer's tresses for years (except when she is on tour), told us she was just as surprised as everyone else.
"I did not expect it, but I think it is a great shock," Kimble tells E! News. "It's amazing that she made a change. It shows a lot of confidence. It's powerful that you won't let one thing define you."
We couldn't agree more, and think Queen Bey is totally rocking this edgy new look. "She looks amazing. I think it makes a statement about people going natural. She is a beautiful girl and can do it."
That she can! But as for her upcoming music video shoot scheduled for this weekend, Kimble admits she'll definitely have to change gears to adapt to the sudden transformation.
"I've got to rethink," the beauty guru says. "I had a plan but now I am going to have to rethink it. Maybe think of the style I was going to do and give it a shorter twist. I am ready to roll with it!"
We can't wait to see what she comes up with!
Whatever the end result is, we know our favorite diva will look downright gorgeous.
