As everyone saw on Monday night's finale of The Bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock is now engaged to Chris Siegfried.

But of course we still can't get over that moment when Desiree stopped Chris' proposal and expressed the feelings she had for another suitor, Brooks Forester.

Not surprising, the subject came up when the couple called in to Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning.

"I was in the midst of a proposal and she had a few things to say," Chris recalled. "But in the end, I was actually very happy she did come out and was as honest as she was."

To which Desiree added, "That's the hard thing to really understand from the viewers' point of view. The feelings are very accelerated in this type of experience because I do get to know the guys very quickly and feelings are formed very quickly, but that's also why I was able to get over the Brooks hurt pretty quickly as well."

And the gal is pretty confident she made the right choice.

"I just think when you know, you know," Desiree said. "And I know Chris and I are going to last and I know we're going to get married and have a future."

But if Brooks hadn't bowed out of the reality series, does Desiree think she and Chris would actually be together today?

"That's where I don't have a clue, because those last two weeks are the most vital," the bride-to-be said. "It's more about if I could picture this person in my life forever. But to be honest, I've always had a connection with Chris, so I don't know how it would have ended if Brooks would've stayed."

Desiree noted, "I feel our relationship started very naturally, and to be honest, we are each other's best friends. I truly believe, regardless of the show, or if we met at a coffee shop, we'd still be together."
