Jack White Fires Back at Karen Elson's Restraining Order: She Called Me an "Amazing Father"

In court filing, former White Stripes frontman states that his estranged wife has repeatedly praised his parenting skills and there's no need for him to undergo a psych evaluation

Karen Elson's accusations have Jack White shakin'—and not in a pleasant way.

Firing back at his estranged wife's petition for a restraining order, the former White Stripes frontman alleges that she's the one who recently kept their two kids in Europe for five extra days in violation of their custody agreement and argues that there is "no basis, whatsoever," for him to undergo a psychological evaluation as she had requested.

In court documents filed Friday in Tennessee and obtained by E! News, White includes a May 19 email from Elson in which she wrote, "You're an amazing father, I'm so glad we had these kids together."

Elson secured a temporary restraining order against White on July 19, alleging that he has a violent temper and had been harassing and her attorney via email, and he is currently prohibited from contacting her except to discuss custody issues.

The model wed the rocker on Aug. 1, 2005, and they separated in 2011, just shy of their sixth anniversary—an occasion they celebrated with a bring-on-the-breakup party. Elson officially filed for divorce last year.

In his rebuttal filing, White asks that the court determine a temporary parenting plan that would stop Elson from "unilaterally deciding that these are her children, not theirs, and that she can do whatever she wants, even in violation of a written and signed agreement."

White's filing also states that on July 17, the day that Elson her "inflammatory" motion, she left the kids with him for what was the start of a 10-day trip out of town.

"These are not the actions of a mother concerned for the safety of her children or the stability of their father," the filing states.

White also claims that Elson recently told a friend, "I'm completely in love with Jack and I'd move back in tomorrow if he asked me."

The filing continues: "Mr. White does not oppose the restraint which prevents him from contacting Ms. Elson, as he is now uncomfortable speaking with her other than to communicate, as needed, via email regarding the children. The reason for filing this response is that Mr. White does not want to portrayed as something he is not, violent toward his wife or children." 

Moreover, "her characterizations of Mr. White as a scary or violent person is upsetting to him and vehemently untrue," the filing concludes.
