The Prince of Wales continued sharing his joy over the royal baby's birth today, reportedly describing the "great moment" when he first he met little Prince George while opening the new garden at Kemble Railway Station in Windmill Hill, Kemble, Gloucestershire Thursday morning.
"It's fun to be a grandfather," Prince William's father told nine-year-old George Austin at the event, reports The Daily Mail.
The proud grandpa was also presented with congratulatory cards during the royal visit, where he was snapped visiting with youngsters who came to meet the 64-year-old royal.
Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their first child, the third in line to the British throne, at 4:24 p.m. local time July 22 in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's hospital in London. The wee HRH Prince of Cambridge weighed in 8 lbs 6 oz.
Yesterday, the proud parents announced their son's name, Prince George Alexander Louis, which undoubtedly brought another big smile to the new grandpa's face, as he's previously admitted to having the utmost respect for King George III, who ruled England from 1760 to 1820.
Just one day after Middleton gave birth, Prince Charles was snapped visiting his son, daughter-in-law and their bundle of joy in the hospital, where he said he was "thrilled and very excited" over the arrival of the little one.
His wife, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, also accompanied her hubby and couldn't help but gush over his strong parenting skill.
"It's very exciting, and I think it's wonderful for the grandfather—he's brilliant with children, so he'll have a wonderful time," she said.
After the latest royal event in Gloucestershire, Charles and Camilla will have a few days off before getting back to work Monday, when the pair is expected to visit The Historic Dockyard Chatham in Chatham, Kent. His Royal Highness is Patron The Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.
Meanwhile, Will, Kate and the little prince left Kensington Palace Wednesday morning. The family of three reportedly went to Bucklebury, where they will be spending time with Middleton's parents.
