REUTERS/Gonzalo FuentesPresidential hopeful Mitt Romney is getting some A-list help from Clint Eastwood at the Republican National Convention.
The Oscar-winning actor and director has been identified as the GOP's "mystery guest" speaker for tonight's end to the RNC, a source confirms to E! News.
Republican politico Meghan McCain also verified Eastwood's surprise appearance to our own Ross Matthews.
"I have heard from reliable sources that it's Clint Eastwood," McCain said. "I could be wrong. It could be hologram Ronald Reagan tonight but I'm pretty sure it's Clint Eastwood."
"If it is Clint Eastwood, I think he brings a sort of cache of being a Hollywood legend at this point," she continued. "The Republican party has a long history of electing actors: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronald Reagan. So I kind of think if he is speaking then it's definitely a signal that he's going to run for higher office soon."
Eastwood joins the list of this year's RNC speakers, which already includes Anne Romney, vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan and Curb Your Enthusiasm's Jeff Garlin New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Eastwood, whose family appears on E!'s Mrs. Eastwood & Company, endorsed Romney for president earlier this month at a Republican fundraiser in Idaho, saying, "I think the country needs a boost somewhere."
RNC reps had no comment.
