Ladies and gentlemen, the royal fairy dust has settled and we now have a winner in our Best Princess Ever tournament!

It wasn't an easy road to victory for her, though. The bracket was full of tough competition, from real-life princess like Diana and Grace Kelly to beloved characters like Princess Buttercup and Cinderella.

In the end, our regal battle came down to Aladdin's Princess Jasmine and Rapunzel from Tangled. Both launched a series of upsets to make it to the final round, so who received the most votes and took home the title of Best Princess Ever?

Rapunzel!

Sure, OK. While Princess Jasmine had an impressive run in the last several rounds, even beating out Diana, the people's princess, with 53 percent, in the end she just couldn't dethrone the long-tendriled beauty.

Rapunzel grabbed a staggering 80 percent of your votes. Definitely a landslide. So what is it about this latest Disney princess with a voice like Mandy Moore that has so many of you captivated?

Let's look at her royal qualities:

1. Her true destiny lies outside the tower walls. The best princesses are those who give back to their kingdoms. While Rapunzel has spent the last 18 years of her life cooped up in solitary confinement, she knows she's meant for bigger things on the outside. She has an insatiable curiosity about the world around her and fills her world with art and books. Sure her first jaunt in the great unknown may have been a fun ride with a charming and lovable thief, but it's that worldly awareness that truly drives a princess to make her subjects' lives better.

2. That hair! It's a fact of life: a princess in the spotlight is going to have her hair obsessed over. Just look at all the coverage of Princess Diana's hairstyles over the years. So Rapunzel, with 70 feet of long, golden tresses that double as an effective all-purpose tool, is set for a life in the royal limelight.

3. She's fiercely independent. Have you seen the woman wield a frying pan...as a weapon? Despite her limited experience outside the tower walls, she knows she doesn't need a prince to define her. She's her own woman. Sure it'd be nice to have someone to share life with, but not at the expense of giving up her true self. That's a deal breaker. Any prince who comes along had better be ready to share joint rule of the kingdom.

Congratulations to all those fair ladies who competed for the title. It was a matchup fit for a princess.
